Jesus is mentioned in 15 different chapters of the Qur'an. Below are some of the most significant verses concerning him, his mother, and his mission, in Arabic and English translation.
"Indeed, the example of Jesus to Allah is like that of Adam. He created him from dust; then He said to him, 'Be,' and he was."
"And [make him] a messenger to the Children of Israel, [who will say], 'Indeed I have come to you with a sign from your Lord.'"
"The Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary, was but a messenger of Allah and His word which He directed to Mary and a soul [created at a command] from Him."
"They have certainly disbelieved who say that Allah is the Messiah, the son of Mary."
"And the Jews say, 'Ezra is the son of Allah'; and the Christians say, 'The Messiah is the son of Allah.' That is their statement from their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved [before them]. May Allah destroy them; how are they deluded?"
Qur'an 9:30In a striking passage, the Qur'an describes God questioning Jesus directly on the Day of Judgment about whether he ever told people to worship him and his mother as gods besides God — and Jesus disowning any such claim.
"And [beware the Day] when Allah will say, 'O Jesus, Son of Mary, did you say to the people, "Take me and my mother as deities besides Allah?"' He will say, 'Exalted are You! It was not for me to say that to which I had no right.'"
"And they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them... And they did not kill him, for certain. Rather, Allah raised him to Himself."
"And We made her [Mary] and her son a sign for the worlds."
